With thousands of Members representing every province and territory, we receive a lot of feedback. While we can’t satisfy every request, when we get the same suggestion from hundreds of Members, we consider it a trend.
You’ll notice in this Cellar that, in addition to the key regions normally featured at this time of year – Portugal, California, The Pacific Northwest, and Germany, we have added a few wines from Bordeaux and Spain. By popular demand, we have these available for a second time in the annual cycle of offerings.
Just another benefit of being a Member of Canada’s Wine Club. With just a little planning, Opimian can provide you with all the wines and spirits you need throughout the year for every drinking occasion.
Feedback on the new ‘Up to the Minute’ newsletter feature that debuted in C307 was positive, so you’ll find a second one on page 4. We have also included, separately, an Events feature. As COVID is increasingly in the rear-view mirror, we will continue to add events across the country and plan Opimian travel opportunities more frequently.
Now to the wine! Ramilo of Portugal has become a multi-year Member favourite. So much so that they grace our cover and were selected for the Founders Choice subscription case. If you haven’t experienced the superb value and quality of Founders Choice, this is a very good time to enroll.
The Canadian Corner continues to gain your attention and orders. Many wines and spirits in this feature are often available over several Cellars so they are there when you need them. The Harris Beach Cask Club includes a fascinating journey through the development of premium rye whisky. You can discover and order it online at opimian.ca.
Our neighbours to the south in the United States have a growing and spreading wine industry. To follow that trend, in addition to California and Oregon, you will have the opportunity to order wine from Washington State. Chosen carefully by our Masters of Wine, it represents the best quality from this lesser-known wine region. It will not disappoint.
Alex Pflüger produces wines that reflect the terroir of the Pfalz region of Germany. Our many German wine lovers in the Club snap them up every year. If you haven’t tried them, or you would like to round out your selection of Old World, European wines in your own cellar, here is your ultimate chance.
It continues to be a privilege to lead Opimian into uncharted, post-COVID waters. Every normal is a new normal. Supply chains, liquor board relationships and consumer behaviour are all in flux. This requires adaptability and vision to have the Club flourish today and into the future.
Cheers
